After effects basics

• • New project to start the project.
  • Project pan, composition panel and timeline
  • Before open up the software asset management and create folders to organize your work.
  • When clicked it panel get blue highlight

  • To group layers you use composition
  • The interface is organized into a group of workspaces.
  • Names of workspaces are named after different things or tasks

  • Hover between the column and click and drag to make name Coolum larger.
  • To create compassion you go choose a new composition. Under preset choose a lot of presets to use.
  • Preset responsible for frame rate and aspect ratio
  • 0:00:00:00=frames
  • Start time and end time you can set with compassion.
  • click on the clip and drag down to the button of the lower panel. ( blue play head)
  • Drag up and down timeline and composition moves.
  • When let go of time indicator you see how many frames your compassion is
  • You can alter your frames on the left if you so choose to.
  • You can make adjustments to the anchor point, position, scale, rotation underneath transform options.
  • Anchor point= locator. Position point.
  • Blue numbers are different parameters you can adjust.
  • If you want to move anchor point you click and drag and moves along x-axis.
  • the scale has a lock it will scale up and down and is locked of y parameter. You can unlock and will distort the compassion accordingly.
  • If you see infinite symbol to unlock
  • To add a colour select layer and then go out effect and you’ll see all options to apply colours and effect. Go effects preset panel and click on the search field.
  • Drag onto the timeline to add effect.
  • Now applied you have effect layer you can edit.
  • Make adjustments up in effect control panel that pops up or inside the timeline on the actual layer
  • Look menu is preset settings in the colour effect that will stylize effect to create a certain look.]
  • Below timeline Toggle switches/modes.

• Add 2nd video layer

• To add animation use keyframes which are recorded settings.

• Keyframes are recording an action ready for a change.

• Activate keyframe click stopwatch icon.

• Only click stopwatch once in order for the animation to change.

• Move time indicator to change time.

• Adaptive resolution is a way inside after effects you do animation without putting too much strain on the system

• To preview something press spacebar.

• Rendering is a term to export video outside after effects.
